Very few people have successfully been able to surprise me. But I must admit...I was in absolute shock. Never have I pressured Iyobosa to proposing. But curiosity was starting to nudge me. Thanksgiving I thought Iyobosa was going to propose. But there I was eating turkey with no ring! lol. Christmas I was sure of it!! But after all the gifts were open, I still was ring less. So when New Years Eve came...I was sightly expectant, but did not want to get excited.
However, by the time it came to go to church for Crossover Night...I quickly realized that it was not going to happen. I quickly assumed that he was going to wait until Valentines Day. After service, we headed out. Iyobosa was his calm/collected self. Nothing unusual to make me start suspecting. He said he needed to make a pit stop at the Palmer House before we gallivanted around the city. On that stop to the Palmer House, with the help of my business partner...Iyobosa proposed!!! I'm not the mushy mushy type...but boy was I bawling that day. Mascara was everywhere!! It was definitely a great surprise!
How we met?.... Typically, people have stories of how they met. How a friend introduced them to each other. How they met at a party, or maybe their parents knew each other. But no, I believe that how I met Joanna was Holy Spirit lead.
The church I currently attend.... then, I hardly spoke to anyone. I sat at the back of the church. Usually said nothing and after the service was done, I would quickly leave. So on a faithful Sunday, there were newcomers who had come into the church. At the corner of my eyes, I noticed a lady wearing a black sweater dress, long hair and heels on. I noticed her again when she stood up to go to the ladies room. At first I thought nothing of it, except she was beautiful and very well put together. After church was over, and I was about leaving.... she was sitting and talking with an acquaintance whom was a previous student at the institute I tought at. With my usual self in church, by not saying anything or introducing myself to anyone, I wanted to leave, but… there was something about her that I couldn’t shake, attractive? Yes… But there was something else and with that no words could explain, it leads me to introduce myself to her, something I have never done at the church.
I remember after introducing myself she asked me 2-3 time again what my name was, apparently, my accent was too harsh that when I pronounced my name she had to hear it over and over again. LOL. After I introduced myself, I left church wondering what the heck I just did?!?!?!...... Fast forward to 2017, I realized I just not only met my best friend but my future wife!!
March 2013 I walked into my current church that I was then invited to. I honestly knew nothing about the church...but was very surprised to see many familiar faces after entering. Service was great!!...But, I was STARVING!!! (like I usually am). So after service, my plan was to chit-chat with a few old friends...and jet to the nearest restaurant.
But as I was talking to a member, Iyobosa came and introduced himself to me. I seriously thought nothing of it. Later, I was told that he was interested in me. We started off by just chatting. Which later turned into us actually going out to a restaurant. Iyobosa was VERY, VERY, VERY quiet when I 1st met him. He was also more guarded than the Great Wall Of China!!! lol.
When we both eventually opened up & let our guards down...I realized that I had the most AWESOME guy ever!!! Iyobosa was always down for the cause! Its like he was the male version of myself. No adventure was off limits with him! Traveling??? Iyobosa was down! Walking along the floors of the Caribbean Sea with only 11 min of training from a man who spoke 65% English?!?! Iyobosa was for it!! (most STUPID, but fun thing we ever did!!!). Also, the day I found out that he was just as equally addicted to Kenneth Hagin as I was...I was hooked!! :)
All in all, spending the rest of my life with Iyobosa seems far to short when he is everything I ever dreamed of.
I am the lead Cyber Security Engineer at a Global Marketing and Communications firm. I'm a member of the ISC2 and ISACA which are international organizations focused on cyber security and it's implementations. I've served as the Organizer of the SIEM MeetUp group in Chicago. I currently have over 12 years of IT and Cyber Security experience.
My greatest strengths would be that I am solution driven, creative, and a great leader. I thrive on challenges. Particularly those that expand the company's Cyber Security reach.
I hold a Bachelors of Engineering degree from Finland and an M.Sc from DePaul University. I am now pursuing my Doctorates in Cyber Security. In my free time, I enjoy being a singer at church, traveling, developing apps, and spending quality time with my Fiancee.
As much as I love to talk about myself...I found it very challenging to write about myself!! lol
Ok, where to begin...
I was raised in the south suburbs of Chicago. The suburbs were ok, but I always had an itch to move to the big city. Growing up, my mom had me in TONS of activities. I partially believe this was due to the fact that I was a severe TomBoy!! (I still am by the way)...I did ballet and tap for over 12 years. Was in Girl Scouts, played soccer, etc. Both of my parents were entrepreneurs. So growing up, I was accustomed to watching them work for themselves as opposed to a standard 9-5. I believe this gave me the drive to become one as well. I had every job a human could possibly have! (15 to be exact!!)...I was scared to go into my dream job. I later built enough courage to do it! I went into Real Estate 10 years ago. I NEVER looked back ever since, lol. With Gods help, I eventually went on to open my own Real Estate office.
In my spare time I like to 5 things:
1. Deepen my relationship with God (Jesus is pretty cool!)
2. Spend time with Iyobosa :)
3. SHOP!!! (I seriously have a problem, lol)
4. Travel to just about anywhere a plane, boat, vehicle can go.
5. Try new restaurants (I am obsessed with food!)
Looking forward to our wedding has been the most awesome experience ever. Knowing that I get to spend the rest of my life with such an amazing man is priceless. A feeling that I can't explain.
